InCrops has forged close links with the creative industries in order to develop concepts and prototypes using natural materials in mainstream products. Designers and product developers aim to reduce their impact on the environment through material selection, development of energy-efficient processes and improved end-of-life options for products.

We work with the manufacturers of household goods, eco-paints, furnishings, fashion, clothing and artists. Artists and designers are often keen to explore new materials and can find discovering bio-based materials very rewarding. Additionally, the use of natural fibres, biopolymers, and natural pigments can be a positive selling-point for products and artwork.

Plant-based materials also open up exciting design possibilities in architecture and construction. Our Living Designs series of events brings together scientists, architects and designers who are at the forefront of researching and trialling inventive ideas, such as using moss as a living green wall that, as well as being aesthetically pleasing, could also generate biophotovoltaic energy and purify air.
