The Green Chemistry Network is holding a one-day seminar on FOOD WASTE UTILISATION. This event will be of interest to:
• Food producers
• Food retailers
• Energy providers
• Waste mangers and regulators
• Bio-based manufacturers
The majority of waste being landfilled in the E.U. is food supply chain waste (FSCW). 90 million tonnes of food waste are generated every year in the E.U.27 (including industrial and household waste). The carbon content of this waste is equivalent to that of all the chemicals produced from imported oil in the E.U. Recovery and re-use of food waste for the production of chemicals, materials and fuels is economically and environmentally beneficial, ultimately leading to closed loop manufacturing where all materials are fully valorised.
The seminar will discuss the progress being made in this important area of Green Chemistry research. For full details click here for the event flyer
