Algae for Food and Feed

  • Tuesday 7th February 2012, Hughes Hall College, Cambridge 15:00-18:30

InCrops and EnAlgae host a networking meeting to build supply chains for algal products in the UK. This Free event is aimed at those interested in either growing algae or using them as ingredients for food and food products.

    Why algae?
    - Algae have considerable potential for expanded use in human food and animal feed.
    - Certain strains are high in protein, some contain omega oils, others are rich in vitamins and antioxidants, some contain valuable pigments.
    - Currently  demand outstrips supply, and new business opportunities are emerging

    The event will
     - showcase the work of the newly launched INTERREG NW Europe Strategic Initiative ‘EnAlgae’, of which InCrops is a partner
    - highlight the benefits of algae as a functional food/feed
    - provide a platform for business delegates to pitch with one slide who they are, what they do and what they are looking for
    - facilitate building of algal supply chains during networking

Registration - please reserve your place by contacting Julia O'Rourke, events co-ordinator before 1st February. Email or call 01603 591765
